KUCHING, April 26: Sarawak has pledged participation in the World Health Organisation's
(WHO) 'Advancing health equity and health systems resilience in a turbulent world: A global health agenda for 2025-2028' programme.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian announced in a statement today that Sarawak will actively engage in all six strategic objectives outlined by WHO, focusing on promoting, providing, and protecting health.

Dr Sim elaborated that under the category of promoting health, activities will include responding to climate change, recognized as an escalating health threat in the 21st century, and addressing health determinants and root causes of ill health across various sectors.
Regarding providing health, Dr Sim stated that efforts will concentrate on advancing the primary healthcare approach and enhancing essential health system capacities for universal health
coverage.

This includes improving health service coverage and financial protection to tackle inequity and gender inequalities.
Furthermore, Dr Sim emphasised that under the protecting health category, initiatives will focus on preventing, mitigating, and preparing for health risks from all hazards, alongside ensuring rapid detection and effective response to all health emergencies. — DayakDaily
