I am pleased and delighted to be able to connect with you through this digital platform. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of our people by delivering outstanding services in public health, housing, and local government. We are committed to building a healthy, safe, and thriving Sarawak.
In Public Health, we are dedicated to supporting the Sarawak Government’s efforts to meet the healthcare needs of our diverse population. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with Federal agencies to accelerate progress in delivering equitable healthcare services.
In Housing, our focus is on improving governance towards better access to safe, comfortable, and affordable homes for all. We continue to facilitate creation and maintenance of environments equipped with essential amenities, open spaces, and infrastructures that meet residential, commercial, recreational, and accessibility needs. These are essential to improve the quality of life of our communities.
Meanwhile, in Local Government Services, we emphasize the strengthening of local authority services and encouraging active citizen participation. Our local authorities and associated agencies will continue to drive project development delivery to enhance public infrastructures and amenities in the local authority areas. In 2024, 8 local authorities have achieved sustainable city status while 18 local authorities have achieved the status of moderately sustainable under the Malaysian Urban Rural National Indicators Network for Sustainable Development (MURNINets). These achievements reflected the Councils’ commitments in achieving the State’s vision of PCDS 2030 towards a prosperous economy, social inclusivity and environmental sustainability in Sarawak. Hence, sustainable environmental health and wellbeing and enhanced revenue collection by our local authorities will continue to be the focus for this year with the aim of providing continual quality services to our communities. The Ministry together with our local authorities will continuously updates laws and procedures to remain relevant and future-ready.
