Message from YB Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak
Salam Sarawakku Sayang and Salam Sarawak Maju Makmur to all the beloved staff of the ministry.
The year 2025 marks a new chapter in our journey as civil servants responsible for the welfare of the people and the progress of Sarawak. In this year filled with challenges, our ministry continues to play a crucial role in ensuring that the people of Sarawak enjoy the best healthcare services, comfortable housing, and a conducive environment for a better life. Emphasis should be placed on providing efficient, friendly, and professional services to the people, focusing on basic amenities and management efficiency as the keys to creating a better environment.
As part of Sarawak’s vision for progress, we must also focus on Sarawak Digitalization and SMART Cities Development. The use of digital technologies will enhance our efficiency, improve public service delivery and enable us to keep up with global advancements. SMART Cities initiatives will help us build urban spaces that are responsive to the needs of the people, making Sarawak a more dynamic and competitive state in the global arena.
Additionally, Sarawak has high aspirations for Health Autonomy under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). This is an important step in ensuring that Sarawak has greater control over its healthcare system, empowering us to address the unique health challenges of our people more effectively. By gaining health autonomy, we will be able to tailor healthcare policies and services that best suit the needs of the people of Sarawak.
In line with this, the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) plays an important role in building a prosperous Sarawak. We need to adapt to the new normal and ensure that our state not only recovers but is also prepared to face future challenges. PCDS 2030 provides the framework for economic recovery, sustainable development, and technological progress. It is vital for us to contribute to the implementation of this strategy by ensuring that all sectors; health, housing, infrastructure, and governance-align with its goals.
I would also like to remind everyone that our success can only be achieved through cooperation and teamwork. Every individual in this ministry plays a very important role. As we face the various challenges ahead, we must continue to demonstrate dedication, commitment, and high professionalism in every task we undertake.
As we move forward in this era of rapid development, we must be open to innovation and transformation in the way we function. The use of technology in healthcare management, housing, and local governance is an important step in ensuring that our systems are more efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of the people. I encourage all ministry staff to focus on improving existing work methods and processes, adopting new solutions, and continuously striving to enhance service delivery.
Furthermore, I urge everyone to prioritize sustainability and long-term development. We must not only look at immediate needs but also ensure that we are building a future that can withstand challenges and contribute to the well-being of future generations. This vision will guide our efforts in all projects and initiatives moving forward.
Let us unite to improve the quality of life for the people of Sarawak through better, more efficient, and comprehensive services. I am confident that with the passion and commitment from each member of the ministry, we will achieve even greater success.
Thank you to all the ministry staff for your hard work, dedication, and cooperation throughout the past year. Let us begin this new year with renewed determination and enthusiasm, knowing that every step we take is for the betterment of our beloved Sarawak.
Thank you, and let us move forward together!
YB Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian,
Deputy Premier of Sarawak
Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Sarawak
