Tribunal orders three developers to pay over RM101,000 to homeowners for late delivery, poor workmanship in Sibu

SIBU (Oct 22): The Sarawak Housing Claims Tribunal has ordered three developers to pay a total of RM101,069.81 in compensation to homeowners for late delivery and substandard workmanship across three separate cases.

The ruling, issued on Oct 22, 2025, gives the developers 45 days to pay the awarded amounts.

Failure to comply may result in prosecution under Section 53(1) of the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013.

If found guilty, they face a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both.

The tribunal panel was presided over by president Trabawan Mandi, assisted by Datuk Alhadi Ibrahim and Mohamad Abdul Aziz Ariffin.

In the first case, Mohd Awissolqani Abdul Razak was awarded RM23,390.64 for the late delivery and poor workmanship of his RM310,000 house on Jalan Oya.

The property was due to be handed over on Feb 21, 2025.

Zurkarnain Jemat, meanwhile, received RM49,393.97 in compensation for the late delivery of his RM398,000 double-storey intermediate house in the Seduan Land District.

He had signed the Sales and Purchase (S&P) agreement on Sept 3, 2020.

Joint buyers Muhamad Pauzee Sapili and Nur-anita Maslan were awarded RM28,285. 20 for the late delivery of their RM388,000 house on Seduan Lane.

Their S&P agreement was signed on July 12, 2013.
