28 Oct - Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) and Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara (DBKU) are pleased to announce that Pay and Go Sdn. Bhd. has been awarded as the solution provider and operator (concessionaire) for the Smart Parking System in the council areas, commencing operations in January 2026. The selection of Pay and Go Sdn. Bhd. was made through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, based on a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s technical capability, operational experience, and financial proposal.
The implementation will begin with a trial phase starting on 1 November 2025 and this transition coincides with the expiry of the existing parking concession held by Kuching City Parking System Sdn. Bhd., whose contract has now concluded.
The Smart Parking System represents a modern, efficient, and data-driven approach to parking management. It is designed to improve user convenience, strengthen enforcement efficiency, and enhance revenue collection for local councils, aligning with Sarawak’s Smart City and Digital Economy initiatives.
The parking rates remain unchanged, including season parking and reserved parking.
The introduction of the Smart Parking System marks a major step towards digitalising municipal services in Sarawak and improving the efficiency of urban management. This transition will improve user convenience through cashless and contactless payments, strengthen enforcement with real-time monitoring and analytics, increase transparency and accountability in revenue management, and provide valuable data insights for urban mobility and planning.
MBKS and DBKU, together with Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), will closely monitor the trial implementation to ensure a smooth transition, minimal disruption, and strong public communication. Public awareness campaigns will also be carried out to guide motorists on registration and usage procedures.
